Huawei, a company who is beginning to make a bit of noise on the Android front, is rumored to hit U.S. soil with a new ‘Diamond” series of devices.  Expected to be announced at Mobile World Congress next month, this new line of Android smartphones is said to “take performance a step higher” than previous models.  We’re totally on board with this as the company’s most recent announcements are quite impressive.

As a reminder, Huawei’s latest devices run Android 4.0 and feature dual-core 1.5GHz processors, 4.3-inch Super AMOLED qHD displays, 8-megapixel cameras, and HSPA+ 21 Mbps connectivity.  With ultra-slim form factors, Wi-Fi, DLNA, and MHL-HDMI, the specs alone rival today’s top Android smartphones.

Although not confirmed, these new handsets could arrive in the United States in the middle of the year. Thus far we’ve only seen a small number of Huawei Android devices in the U.S. , however that’s not to say they’re not good at what they do. We’ve talked to a number of folks in the Android space who were impressed with the Huawei stuff on display at CES.  Priced right and matched with the proper carrier, we could be in for a dark horse competitor.
