Google Docs for Android adds real-time collaboration, rich text

google_docs_feature

The Google Docs application for Android has been updated today, bringing it even more closely in line with its desktop counterpart.  Download version 1.0.54 and you’ll find yourself able to do many of the common Docs features, including bullet points and other rich text formatting.  Perhaps the most notable new goodie is the ability to see real-time where other collaborators are within the document.  Looks terrific on a tablet, by the way!

Reminds us of our Google Wave days…

New features of Google Docs 1.0.54

  1. Create, view and edit Google documents with our new Android editor
  2. Rich text formatting (bold, italics, underline, font color, background color)
  3. Layout tools (bulleted lists, numbered lists, indentation)
  4. Real-time collaboration – see edits from others in seconds
  5. Cursor presence and highlighting

This does not sem to work with the Asus Transformer Prime.  I installed the current release and  when I go to edit a document, I click a specific cell which opens another cell instead.  The keyboard pops up and then disappears. I can log into my laptop and edit fine. Has anyone else had this problem?

I wonder if this’ll work with LG Optimus P500. In my line of work, I need to have access to Google Docs while I’m on the go and be able to sync it to my laptop at work.
