Onavo introduces Extend app for ICS devices, helps you keep track of every megabyte

In the era of data caps, throttling, and falsely advertised “unlimited” data plans, quite a few users have to keep track of their monthly data usage. ICS has a nice data usage chart, along with a few alert options, to help with this. But in reality, the average user doesn’t know the difference in 20MB and 200MB when it comes to mobile data. Just how many web pages can a user load with x amount of data usage? Onavo aims to help with this, as they’ve just introduced Onavo Extend, an app exclusively made for ICS devices, both smartphone and tablet alike.

Onavo Extend builds on Onavo’s existing data usage monitor, adding a few spiffy new features, like the utilization of Google’s WebP image format, which creates massive data savings on images, without sacrificing the quality of those images. Users can navigate between the last week and the last month of data usage, to see how everything is broken down.

While it’s exclusive to Ice Cream Sandwich, the app itself does have a very sleek look to it. So without further ado, ICS users can download Onavo Extend for free from the Android Market by using the box below. Not on the latest version of Android? You can still try out Onavo’s Data Usage Monitor app.

How do you track your data usage? Do you worry about going over every month, and being throttled or charged overage fees? Let us know in the comments!
