Samsung SCH-i200 ‘Jasper outed for Verizon

The Bluetooth SIG recently outed yet another Samsung smartphone, SCH-i200 ‘Jasper’ which appears to be headed to Verizon.  Running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the handset is expected to have a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor and a WVGA display.  In other words, a potential mix of high-end power with mid-range screen technology.

Verizon has a history of offering budget-friendly Samsung models that complement their top-tier devices so we might expect the same here.  We fully anticipate 4G LTE connectivity for the Jasper as Verizon doesn’t have plans for 3G devices in 2012.

It will be interesting to see how this fits into Verizon’s lineup with the Galaxy S III (presumably) heading our way in the next few weeks.  Might the Jasper be one of those $50-$100 smartphones that sees moderate success?  And which name will the SCH-i200 end up with?  Because, ya know, that’s what is most important…
