Sony ST21i to be renamed as Sony Xperia Tipo, an affordable device from Sony

Sony is getting ready to launch another Android device, however it’s definitely not their best smartphone to date. We are talking about the Sony ST21i ‘Tapioca’, the device we saw a month ago. More information is revealed by the Indonesian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology about it, where the name of the device is mentioned as Sony Xperia Tipo.

While Sony high-end devices offers an amazing Android experience, every manufacturer has to come up with low-end smartphones as well to compete in market. The Xperia Tipo comes with an 800 MHz single-core processor, 512 MB of RAM, and a 3.2-inch display; the good news here is that it comes with Android 4.0. Although it’s not yet confirmed when Tipo will see sunlight, we really hope that it will be out soon.

While it might be possible that Sony is making this device for Asian markets only, I hope they will confirm it soon. What are your thoughts about an affordable device like Tipo? Tell us in the comments below.
