Kobo today announced that their VOX ereader has been vastly enhanced with the addition of Google Play Store support. This means that the $179 digital reader has official access to all of your favorite Google titles (Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Calendar, etc). With the update, Kobo has positioned themselves nicely in the tablet/ereader market. And, while the Kobo brand doesn’t have the same luster as a Barnes & Noble or Amazon, the VOX is the device with full Google support.
Now that the Kobo VOX is on a similar level as other Android “tablets”, we’ll remind you of the specs.
- 7″ FFS+ multimedia display; 1024 x 600 resolution
- 800 MHz CPU
- 512MB RAM
- Android 2.3 Gingerbread
- 8GB of internal storage
- Option to add a 32 GB Micro SD Memory Card
Would you consider one of these for yourself?
