HTC could be prepping a Galaxy Note competitor for Verizon

The rumor mill has been in full swing these last few days as word of an HTC phone/tablet hybrid device could be in the works for this fall.  The word around campfire is that it’s a smartphone with a 5-inch display with a resolution of 1794 x 1080 pixels

According to DigitTimes, said device could be ready to roll out between September and October. While we might initially dismiss the news outlet as being often incorrect, it does match other rumors making their rounds.

Benchmarks for an HTC 6435LVW surfaced recently which showed Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich, a Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon S4 processor, and an Adreno 320 GPU. What’s more, these early numbers had multiple references to Verizon.  Considering these line up nicely with the DigiTimes report, we’re pretty sure this one is legit.

Do you think HTC could have better luck than LG with a Galaxy Note competitor?  Is this Samsung’s race to lose?

EDIT: Article cleaned up to remove references to HTC One X+
