Verizon and Motorola to announce Droid RAZR M 4G LTE

razr_m_4g_lte

Motorola has a press event scheduled for September 5 where it’s expected they will announce next model in the RAZR family.  Strangely, it looks like they’re not going to go with the RAZR HD name we’ve expected all along.  No, they’d rather go with the wordier Droid RAZR M 4G LTEEngadget has scooped up all the goodies for the upcoming handset, including the specs and images.

Details for the Droid RAZR M 4G LTE:

  • Android 4.0
  • 4.3-inch qHD (960 x 540) Super AMOLED Advanced display with Gorilla Glass
  • Dual-core MSM8960 Snapdragon S4 processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8-megapixel rear camera (1080p HD video)
  • 3-megapixel front-facing camera
  • 8GB internal storage
  • NFC
  • GSM / UMTS / HSPA+ global roaming

What do you think of that name?  Love that thing or what?  Yeah, we feel you.

First of all, I am an Android fan through and through. I have all 3 Nexus/Nexi phones, the wifi Xoom, and a Nexus 7. I love Android, but WTF is up with the names?!?!?! It’s like the manufacturers/carriers want the longest most complex name possible. I hate to say this, but Apple does this right. The most recent iPad dropped the number scheme and I fully expect when they announce their next iPhone it will just be “the new iPhone”. Android OEMs need to take a page outta Apple’s playbook on that.

Edit: Shortly after posting, I received a call from my lawyer informing me to cease and desist because Apple has a patent on simple naming schemes…
