Cricket Huawei Mercury Ice launching on September 5th

US super-regional carrier Cricket Wireless is planning to launch the Huawei Mercury Ice on September 5 through RadioShack. Actually, this device is a redesigned version of the Huawei Mercury, but it comes with a different name this time. Though the only new thing is that the device is now available in a sexy pearl white color as well, but everything else is still same under the hood.

Also, it’s still running on Gingerbread, which is a bit of a disappointment. It will cost $149.99 without any contract, so still it’s not a bad choice if you are looking for a device with decent specs and a cheap price tag. Are you planning to get one? Tell us about it in the comment box below.

I was looking to get a new phone with Cricket tomorrow. Then I stumbled upon this! I’ve been seeing alot of negative comments on this phone comparison to iphones and other smartphones. But I have to say I’m pretty excited for the realese of the Huwei Mercury Ice. How can you possibly be be mad at the fact that this phone can almost do everything your iphone can do but at a fraction of the price. I’ll be at Radio Shack Sept. 5th to get my Ice.

I have the original and it is a good phone. Pretty easy to root, good camera and it plays most high-end games well. It is not perfect, and it should never be compared to an iPhone because no Android phone is like the iPhone. That is like posting negative reviews about Ubuntu because it is not Windows 7.

I have this phone and I have no idea what “can do everything an iPhone can do” this is a very good low to mid range phone but it is nowhere near the heavyweights as far as speed, and power go. The only thing that’s up there is the 8mp camera which takes great pictures.
