Samsung Galaxy S III Mini may launch October 11

The rumored Samsung Galaxy S III Mini may get its official announcement on October 11, according to new details landing online this week.  A couple of international blogs have received invitations to an event slated for 10-11-12 where Samsung touts, in loose translation, “something small that will be really big. Look closely at the invitation and you’ll see the signature ‘S’ that often accompanies Samsung’s Galaxy series of devices.

As a refresher, the Galaxy S III Mini is the handset that is expected to take much of the S III’s features and pack them into a smaller, less expensive design.  Details are rumored to include a 4-inch display, a dual-core processor, and 5-megapixel camera.

It’s difficult to get a feel as to whether this is the sort of device that would come to the United States.  Our first reaction would be to say no and that this is more of an international release, however we’d not mind a lower-priced and more direct iPhone 5 competitor.

For what it’s worth, Samsung is also expected to announce a Galaxy Music device on October 11.
