AT&T announces Isis Mobile Payment for Austin and Salt Lake City
Mobile payment service Isis Mobile Wallet has officially rolled out in Austin, Texas and Salt Lake City, Utah, according to AT&T. The joint commerce venture was created with T-Mobile USA and Verizon Wireless and is available to use on nine handsets. A press release from today advises that another 11 phones with Isis support are expected by the end of 2012.
“The launch of the Isis Mobile Wallet in Austin and Salt Lake City represents a milestone for both Isis and the mobile commerce industry,” said Ryan Hughes, chief marketing officer, Isis. “With as many as twenty Isis Ready handsets headed to market by year end, we are experiencing an unprecedented level of support for NFC and consumer choice.”
How does one take advantage of Isis Mobile Wallet? First, you have to go to an AT&T, Verizon, or T-Mobile store in Austin or Salt Lake City to pick up a secure element SIM card and to make sure your phone is Isis-compliant. After that, download the Isis Mobile Wallet app from Google Play where you can load your American Express, Chase, or Capital one card. Should you not have one of those, you can use the Isis Cash card that comes preloaded in the Wallet app. After that, head off to one of hundreds of locations across those two cities.
Verizon, for its part, is also shooting out some press for the new payment option.
