Samsung may not wait a full year before they announce the next iteration of Galaxy S smartphone, according to new rumors out of SamMobile. Citing sources familiar with the matter, the tech blog advises that the presumed Galaxy S4 will arrive in April 2013. For what it’s worth, the device is said to be operating under the code name of Project J.
Also on the horizon?
A budget-friendly version of the Galaxy Note is reportedly headed to Europe. Described as lacking S Pen support, it will most likely not fall under the Galaxy Note brand. SamMobile posits that Samsung will eschew the HD Super AMOLED display in favor of something less expensive. With no digital stylus in sight, this just sounds like a large 5-inch+ Android.
Rounding things out, a 13.3-inch device with a QWERTY keyboard dock (think Asus Transformer) is being developed however it’s unclear whether this is Android or another mobile operating system.
With CES taking place in less than a month, it’s possible we could learn more about any one of these projects. Mobile World Congress follows in February and then we’re right back in the thick of the Galaxy S4 time frame.
