So you’re excited about Facebook Home and cannot wait until April 12 to get your hands on it. Maybe you’re one of those people who doesn’t own one of the “approved” models and still wants to try it out. Whatever the case, you can take things into your own hands with the pre-release version of the app.

The MoDaCo team recently scored a pre-release build of the Home APK  which should closely resemble final experience. Note that by downloading and installing the app you are taking a bit of a risk and that things may not go as nicely as you’re hoping. Honestly, if you could wait a couple more days… maybe it’s worth it; don’t need to sour your taste, right?

MoDaco indicates that you’ll need a device with a “maximum resolution of 1280 x 768 and the ability to completely uninstall your existing Facebook app”.

The leak itself is 3 separate APK files – Facebook app (‘katana’), the now-integrated-with-your-SMS Messenger app (orca) and the Home / Launcher ‘shell’ app (home).

I would never download this launcher. Who wants to stare at duckface photos and advertisements for all time? 😮
