Archos today announced a trio of Android-powered smartphones for the European market which arrive starting in May. Powered by stock versions of Android, the 35 Carbon, 50 Platinum, and 53 Platinum are ultra-affordable, dual-SIM handsets. If you’re the type of user who doesn’t need high-end hardware or something from a name brand OEM, these Archos could be your next Android. We’ve warmed to their Android tablets over the years so we suspect the smartphone offerings might be worth their price.   archos_35carbon_Triple_hidef_7 ARCHOS 35 Carbon ($99.99)

The 53 platinum would be a great low cost alternative to the galaxy note line.

If they’re for the European market as you suggest then why is the price in dollars?

Archos 35: 3.5″ screen with lousy resolution.
Archos 50: decent resolution, but with a 5″ screen the phone is not gonna fit comfortably in your jeans pocket.

Where’s the Archos 40? A 4″ display with the smallest bezel technically possible would open up a market that’s getting ignored more and more by the Samsungs and HTCs of this world.
