Facebook Home installs cross 500,000 mark

The Facebook Home Android application has crossed the 500,000 mark in roughly one week of existence. As noted by TechCrunch over the weekend, the figure can be construed as having come out flat.

There’s a billion Facebook users around the globe and a large portion of the base is mobile, right? Why such a low figure? It’s probably due to the fact that Facebook Home is only available for a select number of handsets today: The HTC One X+, Samsung Galaxy S3, and Samsung Galaxy Note 2. It’s worth noting that the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One will be supported by the app once they hit the streets in the next few weeks.

We suspect that this is just the snowball waiting to roll down the hill. With monthly updates promised, Facebook Home should evolve over time and become better with each iteration. Done right, it should scoop up a few of those dancing on the line of whether to adopt.
