Potential bidding war looms with Google reportedly eyeing Waze

This could get pretty interesting pretty quick. Google is reportedly considering throwing in a counter-offer to Waze and may be ready to engage Facebook in a bidding war.

Waze is fielding expressions of interest from multiple parties and is seeking more than $1 billion, said one of the people, who asked not to be identified because the talks are private.

First surfacing a few weeks ago, rumors had it that Facebook was in advance stages of discussion with the social-based mapping and navigation service. Details, at the time, suggested that the deal was hovering around the $1 billion mark; any bidders interested better have a big wallet.

I’m curious as to whether Google would fold in any of Waze’s features into the Maps experience or simply just  remove one of its biggest threats.
