HTC looking to take on Samsung with rumored 5.9-inch phone, as well as two other devices
It looks like HTC is trying to make a statement once again, as sources are saying the company is testing a new device. Surprisingly, this possible smartphone is rumored to be 5.9-inches in size, identical to the upcoming Galaxy Note 3.
Laura Chen, an analyst for BNP Paribas Securities Taiwan, is also stating that there may be a total of three devices in HTC’s future. Adding to the list is: a “phablet”; a smaller version of the HTC One powered by a newer processor (likely Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 SoC,) which should be arriving sometime in June; and a new version of the Butterfly (which was HTC’s first 1080p device.)
It looks like HTC is starting to believe in themselves as they look to take on Samsung once again. While they are still in recovery mode, it looks like selling 5 million Ones and improving supply demands may have helped boost their ego a bit. Who knows, 2013 might just be the beginning of a renewed HTC and a true competitor to Samsung. Are you starting to have faith in HTC? Let us know in the comments below!
