Virgin Mobile now offering waterproof Reef


Virgin Mobile announced on Thursday that the immediate availability of a waterproof Android smartphone in the Reef. Manufactured by ZTE, the phone is Virgin Mobile’s first certified IPX7 waterproof device and comes with an attractive $149.99 price.

The Reef is powered by Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and features a 4-inch display, 1GHz processor, 5-megapixel rear camera, and 1.0-megapixel front-facing shooter. Additionally, the 3G phone features microSD expansion, support for Virgin Mobile ID Packs, and a battery which promises 9 hours of talk time. The smartphone is able to withstand being in up to three feet of water for 30 minutes.

The Reef is available on Beyond Talk  no-contract plans which provide unlimited messaging and data starting at $35.
