Alleged Android 4.4 KitKat details surface with rumored October 14 launch date

Looks like we might want to pencil in October 14th as the release date of Android 4.4 KitKat and the Nexus 5. Pencil we emphasize, and not pen. New rumors surfacing today suggest we could see the introduction of both on that particular Monday.

According to an Ausdroid source, the Android 4.4 KitKat build will feature the following details:

  • Firmware availability to older phones
  • Fragmentation changes (screen resizing)
  • Miracast updates
  • New Gallery Visualisation
  • New APIs regarding animations
  • Change android default blue to other preset palette colours
  • New notification widgets

The timing of the alleged arrival date certainly lines up with previous version of Android; things do seem to be falling in line quite nicely. We’ll find out in just about one month’s time where there’s fire behind this smoke.
