Sony outlines Jelly Bean and KitKat plans

Sony took their mobile blog today to clear up some of the questions floating around the Android 4.4 KitKat updates for Xperia devices. As expected, it’s the newer models that get the love first, namely the “Z” line of devices. For what it’s worth, Sony did not provide specifics on timing, so we’re going to hope for the best. With that in mind, those of you who own an Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1 can look forward to KitKat.

Before that can happen, however, Sony will update a host of models up to 4.3 Jelly Bean in the next month.

We’re pleased to tell you that we’ll start rolling Android 4.3 for Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia SP, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1 from next month…We can confirm that Xperia T, Xperia TX and Xperia V* will be upgraded to Android Jelly Bean 4.3… also from next month.
