Sony investigating Android 4.4 KitKat upgrades for multiple devices

Sony may expand its Android 4.4 KitKat plans to include a number of additional devices. Head over to the company’s support page for devices such as the Xperia ZR, Xperia T, Xperia TX and Xperia V and you’ll find that it lists the devices as being “Under Investigation”. Check out the Xperia SP, however, and you’ll find it shows a clear path to the software update.

For what it’s worth, these pages may have been active already and we simply did not know about them. Either way, we’re happy to see that Sony is leaving the door open to Android 4.4 for at least a few more models.

With these “new” devices, Sony’s list has grown to look like this:

  • Confirmed for Android 4.4 updates
    • Xperia Z
    • Xperia ZL
    • Xperia Tablet Z
    • Xperia Z Ultra
    • Xperia Z1
  • Likely to receive Android 4.4 updates
    • Xperia SP
  • Currently “Under Investigation” for Android 4.4 updates
    • Xperia ZR
    • Xperia T
    • Xperia TX
    • Xperia V
