Poetic Borderline bumper for Nexus 5 review
For those of you who just picked up a Nexus 5, choices are pretty limited on cases (at least at the time of writing this). However, there is one case that sticks out above the rest.
Poetic, a company who has always put out well-made and inexpensive phone cases, just released their line of Nexus 5 cases. One of which is a thin bumper case that protects the edges, while exposing the back of the phone.
The whole case is made of a TPU plastic material. The sides of the case have a glossy finish, while the back and front have a rubbery feel, probably for a bit more traction on a table or desk. It feels great in the hand since it doesn’t add too much bulk to the phone. Though the buttons are pretty easy to press, it doesn’t give us that satisfying ‘click’ that we’re looking for in a case. All of the ports are easily accessible, at least with the headphones and chargers that we use. Also, there is a bit of Poetic branding on the lower right side, but nothing that stands out all too much. All in all, we’d say the build quality is very good.
One thing to keep in mind, though, is that this is a bumper case, so the back is completely exposed. If you’re accident-prone, we’d probably recommend something with a little more protection. If you do, however, need a replacement case for any reason, Poetic offers a 3 year warranty on this baby.
The price is probably the best part of the case. Poetic is selling it directly from their website for $14.95. However, I picked up the black case from Amazon for $2.95, while the green, purple, red, and yellow variants are only $4.95 each.
We’re willing to bet you won’t be disappointed with this one. The slim design, great build quality, and inexpensive price make for a must-have for any Nexus 5 owner.
