Android 4.4.2 already rolling out

So you heard about Android 4.4.1 last week and now you’re waiting for the update, right? What if we told you there was actually an Android 4.4.2 update already set to go. According to multiple reports, this even newer version of KitKat is hitting devices today. We’ve seen people using Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 smartphones claiming the update has arrived.

There’s no indication as to what the differences are yet or whether it’s specific to particular devices. Based on this Sprint forum post, the following details help make up the 4.4.2 update.

  • Fix for clearing the VM Indicator
  • Fix for delivery of the VM Indicator
  • Various additional software fixes
  • Security enhancements

We assume that the Android team might help clear this up in short order. Our gut tells us this is just bug fixes and tiny stuff to help ensure more broad compatibility.
