How to adjust sound settings [Android 101]
Changing the volumes on your smartphone is a must. What if you don’t want your phone to ring loudly at all times of the day? What if you want to play a game, but don’t want to listen to the loud theme music? Here’s our guide on how to adjust sound settings on your Android.
KEEP IN MIND: Not all Android phones are the same. Some will have more steps required to complete each task, others will have less. At AndroidGuys, we will do our best to walk you through each task as well as we can.
Method 1: Through the Settings menu
The easiest way to change the volume on your device is to simply press the volume up or down key on the side of your device. It will bring up a volume slider, and you can adjust your sound that way. The only downside to this method is that, on many devices, it will only give you one volume option, rather than giving you an option to change multiple at once. Take a look below at how to access other volume options.
First, head to your settings menu, and scroll down until you find the “Sound” tab. Choose that, and you’ll be sent to the sound menu. This page is very useful for changing just about everything that has to do with sound. You can change ringtones, notification sounds, and lock screen sounds.
The tab you’re looking for, though, is the “Volumes” tab. Choose that. and you’ll see some volume sliders on the screen. In our example, the volume options are Media, Ringtones & Notifications, and Alarms. Change them to whatever volume you’d like, and you’re done! Press the home button to get out of this menu, and you’re good to go.
On some phones, there’s an easier way of accessing sound options. Move your volume buttons up or down, and you’ll see a volume slider with a settings gear on the side. Click that, and it will bring up all of your volume sliders. This is sure easier than navigating through your sound options, but some devices don’t have this capability.
Method 2: Through a shortcut
Use this method if you don’t want to dig through the settings menu every time you need to change a volume. Fist, access your widget menu. Scroll over until you see the Settings shortcut. Press and hold on the widget, and place it where you’d like on your home screen. A menu will pop up, asking which shortcut you’d like to set. Scroll down to Sound, and choose that one.
Click on the new Settings icon on your screen, and you’ll be moved straight to the Sound menu.
