20-dads_grads

Tripit

tripit

Helping to plan that well earned gap year after graduation from university. Tripit is a travel planning app that uses all your travel confirmation emails like flight, hotel and car rental info and puts it all into one place that organizes it into a really useful itinerary right on your phone or tablet. It will sync with your calendars to create reminders, provide directions for your destinations, and update you with real-time flight info.

The ability to use Tripit to share your journeys with friends via social media is also a neat idea, and if you’re lucky enough to have Google Glass with you on your travels, then Tripit is also available as a Glass app.

JackThreads: Shopping for Guys

jackthreads

Grad need some new swag for college?  Dad need some new fan gear for the big game? JackThreads is the go to app for that.  Built with guys in mind, JackThreads bring shopping to you so you can sit in your underwear on your couch and shop for the coolest kicks, a nice watch for dad, or a suit for that job you just landed.

Shop for clothing for guys all in one place.

Google Drive

Google-Drive-Android

You’d be seriously silly to not take advantage of Google’s free suite of productivity software. Whether you’re uploading and editing your thesis or personal budget, creating an invitation to a cookout, or backing up copies of receipts, Drive can help. Each app gets better with time and the seamless integration with Android makes this a no-brainer.

Monster Truck Destruction

Play as Bigfoot… ‘nough said!

Back when I was a kid, Monster trucks rallies were as exciting as getting a new device is to me today.  Relive your childhood days with this great Monster Truck game.  Drag race against an opponent or freestyle and race the track yourself.  You can even play in the championship mode.

Apply upgrades to your vehicle to make it the biggest baddest truck on the block.   With over 30 trucks to choose from you are sure to find a truck you want to use to jump ramps and destroy cars with.

Scout

Thanks to the recent switch over to OpenStreetMap, the app is more current than ever before; updated once a minute! Highly detailed and open-source, the navigation’s backbone is essentially a Wikipedia for mapping. And, now that there’s more than 1.6 million potential editors, there’s nothing that comes close in terms of potential.

Other details found in Scout that we’re fond of include a clean and consistent UI, On My Way, Nearby Places, and 3D buildings. What better way to get around that new campus and college town?

DIY Watch

Dads, honey-do lists never quite get completed.  There is always something to do and little time to do it in.  That’s where DIY Watch comes in.

Watch shows from the DIY network so you can become as good s the pros (or at least look like you are trying to learn). Watch full episodes and even entire seasons of shows so that you can fix whatever the wife asks you to fix.
