Will Android ‘L’ become ‘Lemon Cake’?

Will Android ‘L’ become ‘Lemon Cake’?

How about a nice, silly theory to get your day going, eh? We were poking about the new Developer L preview stuff on the Android Developer blog and noticed something in the page on notifications. You’ll see here in the photos that the images associated with “Anatomy of a notification” show a sample set of notifications. In here, a guy named Daniel says he’ll bring his homemade lemon cake.

Hmmm… “L”… “Lemon Cake”… sounds sweet and delicious and exactly like something Google might choose for a release name. Could also be nothing at all.

Note that there’s a seemingly infinite number of “L” names that could be used for the next release of Android. We happen to also like Lemonhead and Lik-M-Aid, too, for what it’s worth.

We’ll find out in a few months what Google ultimately does here, but we like the sound of Lemon Cake. What say you? Have you seen any other hints or tea leaves worth reading?

I was thinking Layer Cake since material design seems to focus on layers.
