MetroPCS ups the data for plans, adds new LTE markets

T-Mobile and MetroPCS today announced the addition of new markets offering 4G LTE network speeds. Growing by 10, the cities include Chattanooga, Tenn.; Chicago, Ill.; Kansas City and St. Louis, Mo.; Milwaukee, Wisc.; Minneapolis-St.Paul, Minn.; Norfolk-Portsmouth-Newport News, and Richmond-Petersburg, Va.; Salt Lake City, Utah; and Yakima-Pasco-Richland-Kennewick, Wash.

Also, effective immediately, subscribers of the MetroPCS $40 plan will have their allotted data bucket pushed from 500MB up to 1GB per month. Those on the $50 plan will get 3GB per month, up from the 2.5GB pool. Changes take effect automatically; subscribers do not have to do anything to their plan. As a reminder, there is no overage fee for data for these plans as the carrier simply throttles back the speeds.
