Now you can install Google Play on your Amazon Fire phone

Amazon made their debut in the smartphone market by introducing the Amazon Fire Phone. It is an Android powered smartphone featuring Amazon’s very own Fire OS. Although, it is Android but a user can only use the Amazon App store with the Fire Phone, which means no access to Google Play Store but thanks to someone over at XDA, Fire Phone users can now access the Google Play Store. The best part is that there is no requirement of rooting the phone, however it is not something official so be ready to take the risk.

I did this for my sister. It was fairly straight forward, but the end result is a little buggy. A massive thanks is due to whoever got this working over at XDA. I found a weird caveat. The apps installed via the play store do don’t show up on the device portion of the app drawer, but instead in the cloud portion. This can be fixed for apps also found in the amazon app store by opening the store, searching for the app, and clicking open from there. Just thought I would put this weird little fix out there for other people that want to try this. The play store makes the fire phone a real android device, the amazon app store has a long way to go. I hope this isn’t a temporary link to the play store.

It didn’t work at all. It installed ES file manager but offered no option to download Google account manager after that. Useless.

I think Amazon blocked google play from its devices, at least the fire phone. After getting the phone I installed google play,( biggest mistake by Amazon was using there own store which has less than 10% of the apps Google play store has) it worked great for months then about a month ago or so, every time I clicked on an app from Google play store. It would say Google play services stopped. Now the phone is pretty much worthless now that you can’t sideload google play store.
