Here’s the list of Samsung devices that will be upgraded to Marshmallow

With the announcement of every new software version, us Android users are always wondering if our device will be supported. Normally, there is some type of waiting period to find out whether our device that was purchased last year or two years ago would be supported. The same can be said for this year, after the announcement of Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

According to SlashGear, Samsung has a list of all the specific devices that will be updated to Marshmallow, and the list has a surprising omission.

  • Galaxy Alpha
  • Galaxy Tab A
  • Galaxy S6
  • Galaxy S6 Duos
  • Galaxy S6 Edge
  • Galaxy S6 Edge+
  • Galaxy Note Edge
  • Galaxy Note 4
  • Galaxy Note 4 Duos
  • Galaxy Note 5

The surprising omission here, is that the Galaxy S5 will not be getting Marshmallow. There are no statements as to why these devices were chosen while the year-old S5 will not be partaking in the fun.

Let us know what you think about the devices that Samsung will be supporting once they put a TouchWiz overlay on top of Android Marshmallow.

I feel sorry for the Galaxy S5 users. I really enjoyed Samsung’s original Galaxy S and the S2. Skipped the S3 but getting the S4 left a sour taste in my mouth when they really dragged their feet releasing updates to it after it had been out for only 6 months. Seems like they’re doing the same with the S5 too. Ditch and switch folks, ditch and switch.

I wouldn’t put too much weight on that list. “as reported by slashgear” is not exactly official. All Android OEM’s have been updating their flagships for 2 years (although not necessarily in a timely manor). I don’t expect that to change.

Hmmm Note 4 getting Marshmallow?? Really, I guess we’re straight to 6.0 from 5.01 on Verizon. Not even on 5.1! SMDH
