OnePlus 2 owners will see the beginning of a phased rollout for the newest update to Oxygen OS 2. Owners of the “2015 flagship killer” have seen several updates to their phones recently which brought improvements to fingerprint recognition accuracy, stability improvements for the front facing camera and UI improvements in the camera software. It also fixed a bug that would unexpectedly mute the phone.

In their forum post, OnePlus is sure to point out that they’re listening to their customers complaints on forums and on social media. Oxygen OS, the rather spartan OS has been criticized for its lack of customization, options and features in comparison to the more robust CyanogenMod 12.1 that can’t yet be flashed on to the phone.

The OnePlus One originally launched with CyanogenMod 11S on board but after a rocky relationship, OnePlus began to develop their own AOSP based ROM and dumped Cyanogen for Oxygen OS. Oxygen OS is available to flash on the original flagship killer but comes standard on the OnePlus 2.

OnePlus has promised a more significant update to Oxygen OS in mid-September which will bump the OS up to 2.1. Due to OnePlus’ history with software updates we’re going to put this one in the we’ll believe it when we see it category.
