I’m fortunate to have some really cool friends with awesome jobs. Why is that important?

One of my closest friends is an executive who sometimes needs to travel to the Middle East for work. She’s there for over a month and I wanted her to test the Pixel XL’s camera for you. I didn’t tell her I was giving her the phone to test. Instead I simply told her she could use the Pixel XL in Egypt with a local SIM card and plan to save hundreds on data. The Pixel XL is fully unlocked for use around the globe which makes it one of the best options for world travelers.

I knew she was planning on going to Petra, which is a historical and archaeological city in Jordan. The city is famous for its rock-cut architecture and water conduit system (Wikipedia). She also had the Great Pyramids of Giza in her travel plans, so I figured this would be an awesome experiment.

pano_20161112_103101Real world pictures from a real user. Not pictures for a review or pictures where the subject knew the samples would be used in a post like this one. I wanted to give you something different.

Here is a link to the photos she took with the Pixel XL on her trip to Egypt and Jordan. I’ll leave the analysis to you so you can decide if you think the camera is worthy of the highest rating ever.

As a disclosure, the Pixel XL camera she used is not an official Google review unit. This is one I purchased solely for the purpose of testing out the camera with a real person who loves to document her life. Thanks Julie!

Very impressive especially the panoramic photos in Petra. Does the camera have that panorama mode built in or was it an app. ?
