  • Developers Seeing Long Term Promise in Android

    Apple rules the short term but Android holds more promise in the long term. At least this is what a majority of those survey by Appcelerator and IDC are saying. A survey released today shows that most of the 2,400 developers polled believe Android will be the platform best positioned to “power a large number and variety of connected devices in the future”.

    Pre-paid wireless provider Virgin Mobile has selected the Samsung Intercept as its first Android device. The ‘successor’ to last year’s Moment runs Android 2.1 and features an 800MHz processor, a 3.2-inch display, a 3.2-megapixel camera, and support for WiFi, GPS, and Bluetooth.

    range pulled the curtain back on the first of their own branded Android handsest today. The low-cost San Francisco is a touch-only device and will be available for the attractive price of £99 ($153 US) on the pay-as-you-go Dolphin plan. The San Francisco runs Android 2.1 and features a 3.5-inch display, a 600MHz processor, 150MB internal storage, and 3-megapixel camera. Other details include your typical Android support for WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, and FM Radio.
