We’ve just gotten word from the team behind the RealPlayer Android app that they’ve released an update for said app. Since we last reported on it in June, it’s come out of beta form and entered the Android Market.

Acer Expecting to Release Quad-Core 10-Inch Android Tablet by Mid-Year
You know that line in The Social Network where Justin Timberlake’s character says, “…a million dollars is not cool. You know what is cool? A billion dollars”? That the first thing I thought of when I learned that Acer plans to release Android-based tablets in 2011 with Intel’s Sandy Bridge processors. Yup, that’s quad-core prowess they are talking about.

Fuel to the Fire: Vibrant Plus to Have Gingerbread, Not Froyo?
Wow. That’s all I can really say about Samsung at this point. Wow. First we get leaked images and specs of the Vibrant Plus, which is supposed to be running Froyo, HSPA+, and a front-facing camera. Then someone from Samsung explains that they charge a carrier for pretty much any kind of update, and now this. We just got word from the guys over at BoyGeniusReport that’s sure to make a lot more Vibrant owners a lot angrier. They’ve gotten a photo of the Vibrant Plus/Vibrant 4G, and it’s clearly running.. wait for it.. Gingerbread!

For the second time in a week, we’ve learned of a forthcoming MetroPCS handset from Samsung with LTE capabilities. This model, the Forte, is said to run Android 2.2 and feature a 1GHZ Hummingbird processor, a 5-megapixel camera, and a sliding QWERTY keyboard.

Potential T-Mobile Comet Successor Outed in FCC Documents
Recently uncovered FCC documents indicate that T-Mobile and Huawei me be working together on another handset. The filing shows the phone to have support for T-Mobile’s AWS bands among other decent sounding specs. The carrier currently offers the Huawei “Comet” as part of their pre-paid stable so this IDEOS X6 could be a potential successor.

Rubin: Next Android Release will be Ice Cream Sandwich
We all assumed it’d be Ice Cream, but, admittedly, an ice cream statue might look a lot like a frozen yogurt statue. TechCruch is reporting that in a conversation about last month, Android’s Andy Rubin let slip the code name Ice Cream Sandwich in reference to the Android release that comes after Honeycomb.
