App Review: Automated Away Text
The app is called Automated Away Text, and it does pretty much what the title suggests: if you miss a call or receive a message, but can’t reply at the moment, it sends an automated text message to that person, letting them know that you can’t make it to the phone.

EXCLUSIVE: First Ever Hands-On with BioLock; Beta Coming to a Nexus S Near You [VIDEO]
CLARIFICATION: There seems to have been some confusion that needs addressing. BioLock is NOT becoming a part of the CyanogenMod source code. CM is 100% open source, and BioLock is not. Koush will merely be using the CM7 source code to build his own BioLock …

App Review: Thumb Keyboard – The First Universally Functional Keyboard
When we made mention of SwitftKey’s new tablet optimization, we didn’t want the smaller developers to be forgotten. Beansoft has had a tablet optimized keyboard available for months now. So naturally, we at AG wanted to put it through its paces. I’m a huge fan …

App Review: FrameGrabber for Android
I have to admit, I don’t use my phone’s video camera that often. Sure, I take lots of pictures, but not too many videos. But I’ve faced a problem in the past: taking still images from videos. Sure, you can do that with PhotoShop or another online tool, but there’s never really been a good way to do it from your Android device. Until now! FrameGrabber does exactly as the title suggests: it “grabs” frames from a video.

App Review: FlexT9 Keyboard
The Developer Says: “FlexT9 powered by Dragon is a four-in-one keyboard experience that puts you in the driver’s seat for communicating how you want – when you want. And only FlexT9 gives you the power to seamlessly switch between the Speak. Trace. Write. Tap. input modes as easily as it is to flip on a light switch!”
What We Liked:
Dragon voice recognition lives up to its reputation, easily besting Google’s voice recognition accuracy.
As a tracing keyboard, FlexT9 is every bit as good as Swype (better at telling the difference between “in” and “on”), with a better UI for suggested words. -
Project Elite v4 ROM:Sleek,Stable & Fast
Last week I came across a great ROM for Motorola Droid 1 (a.k.a. “OG Droid”) tucked away in Droid Forums: Project Elite v4. Now, I usually flash the major ROM developers’ work (Cyanogen, Bugless Beast, Chevy and the others on ROM Manger) because of their history, and pass up the new guys because of fear of abundant force closes and buggy performance.
Well, I’m glad I took a chance on this one.

What’s the Launcher for me?
I stand beside my time honored statement that what allows Android to be successful is not this enlarged definition of open, but choice. You can choose a carrier, choose a style of phone, and choose a manufacturer before you even turn one on. Once you get …
