Copia to Bring More Digital Publications Options for Education

In the evolution of technology, there are many fields that are experiencing complete overhauls in the name of being more efficient, more cost effective, and just plain better. Not to be excluded, the education field has really been looking to upgrade the past several years, with many long-standing systems and infrastructures being scrapped to make way for digital replacements. In the classroom, the main tool used by students is the good ole fashioned textbook, and Copia Interactive would like to bring their own revolution to this particular area by releasing their own OS neutral platform. With more than 1,000 college digital bookstores on hand, the service is expected to roll out before the spring 2012 semester. Speaking of the new platform, EVP Ben Lowinger stated:

Every aspect of Copia has been designed with the student in mind. From studying with friends to professor interaction, from blowing off steam to taking and sharing notes, Copia has created the ultimate online campus experience.

What makes Copia’s platform more than simply an e-book store is that it’s a system that integrates books with student and professor interaction, even allowing the students to share information outside of the platform via popular social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. It will also pull in information from outside of the textbook realm from sources such as magazines and newspapers.

Currently, the platform is only available for the iPad and Windows 7, but Android love will be coming for the rollout.
