The newest (August ’11) Mobile Mix report has been released today, which measures mobile advertising trends across handset makers and platforms. We try not to cover every single monthly report that comes across our desk but we like the way Millennial Media puts things together. Each month seems to focus on a different aspect of the industry, looking at things from various angles. For instance, this month marks the first time that MM combines connected devices (tablets, MP3 players, etc.) and smart phones to break down the OS impression share.
We’ll spare you from completely reprinting the report, but here are a few key findings:
- Android retains the top spot with a 54% share – Apple’s iOS is second with a 28% share.
- Total Android impressions (including both phones and tablets) grew 48% month-over-month.
- HTC has the number two position (Top 15 manufacturers) and accounts for 5 of the top 20 phones in August.
- Impressions from games grew 19% month-over-month, and remained the top app category on MM’s network.
