Get this look for your Android homescreen: Ideo White

One of our absolute favorite things about Android is the fact that you can bend and tweak the platform to your needs.  Sure, there’s rooting and modding for deep level personalization, but that stuff does not always concern the everyday user. Some of just want to change the home screen around a bit and create a new user experience. To that end, we present our weekly series of Get This Look posts.

In a nutshell we will show you a new look for your Android handset and tell you which apps you’ll need if you want to mimic the feel. Note that the following details are but the ingredients to which you can create your own delicious Android dish – results will vary.  But that’s awesome. In fact, many of the designs we highlight tend to use the same apps.

This layout puts all of our commonly used apps front and center but also provides at-a-glance looks at weather, battery and time. Considering how many times a day we turn our phone on just to check the time, this is a refreshing way to look at a clock.

The spacing is nice here, giving us plenty of information without making our home screen feel cluttered. Given the manner in which widgets are used to set the home screen, we appreciate being able to move things around in chunks.

The color choice is excellent and really pops with the image used for camera and gallery. We’d like to think that the orange and blue would also compliment any other photos we employ.

Finally, we also like the fact that we have used these same apps to create some other great looks and custom user interface designs. If you’ve been watching the Get This Look series over the last few months then you’ll already be familiar with the following five, free apps.
