Get this look for your Android smartphone: Colors (by keeent)

One of our absolute favorite things about Android is the fact that you can bend and tweak the platform to your needs.  Sure, there’s rooting and modding for deep level personalization, but that stuff does not always concern the everyman user.  Some of just like to change the home screen around a bit and create a new user experience.

There’s a wonderful website that we’ve long appreciated called MyColorScreen which aims to shed light on all the great ways you can modify your home screens. To that end, we’ve created a series of posts on AndroidGuys where we will highlight an occasional design and its accompanying apps.  In a nutshell we will show you a new look for your Android handset and tell you which apps you’ll need if you want to mimic the feel. Please note that the following details are but the ingredients to which you can create your own delicious Android dish – results will vary.  And that’s awesome.

It’s a perfect blend of clean icons, minimal aesthetics, and useful layout.  We love the usage of the Roboto font and think it makes the widget stand out quite nicely.  Bonus points for making so that just about any wallpaper image fits in the background without looking wonky.  If you’re up for a new design that provides quick access to many popular phone features and apps, this is one to consider.

Anything Else?

  • Here’s the zip with the uccw files. There is a folder in the zip named “Tick”. Copy it to the weather folder (..\UltimateCustomClockWidget\Weather\Tick)
  • Using a file explorer move the uccw files to UltimateCustomClockWidget folder. Then open UCCW -> Open/ manage skins.
  • First you have to have a launcher installed. You also have to copy the icons folder to your phone. Then using a launcher long press the icon you want to change on your homescreen, press edit and choose the icon you want to replace it with.
  • The arrow is a folder with most of the apps I use so that i don’t have to open the app drawer.
