The hits keep coming today as Google has introduced its newest versions of the Nexus 7 tablet.  As we’d come to expect over the last few weeks, the 16GB version of the Asus tablet has been dropped down to $199 to make room for a larger, 32GB capacity model.  The new offering is listed at $249.99, or the same price that the 16GB edition was just one day earlier.  In a related note, we can expect to see the tablets offered across retail partners such as Gamestop, Office Depot, Office Max, Staples, Walmart.
Today also sees Google unveiling a version of the Nexus 7 with a  (HSPA+)data connectivity, giving us the 32GB model as an unlocked device at $299.  Look for that to show up on November 13 in Google Play stores for U.S. (AT&T), U.K., Australia, France, Germany, Spain and  Canada.
- Nexus 7: 16GB for $199 and 32GB for $249; available in U.S., U.K., Australia, France, Germany, Spain, Canada and Japan, and also through our retail partners Gamestop, Office Depot, Office Max, Staples, Walmart.
- Nexus 7 with 32GB and mobile data: $299 and unlocked, on sale 11/13 in the Google Play store in U.S., U.K., Australia, France, Germany, Spain and  Canada.
Where’s the 8GB model in all of this? Â Nowhere to be found on Google Play. Â It’s unclear whether this will ever resurface down the road or with a lower ($99?) price tag.
Nexus 7 brings you the best of Google–YouTube, Chrome, Gmail, Maps–and all the great content from Google Play in a slim, portable package that fits perfectly in your hand. To give you more room for all that great content you can now get Nexus 7 with 16GB ($199) or 32GB ($249) of storage. But we also wanted to make this highly portable tablet even more mobile. So we added HSPA+ mobile data. Nexus 7 is now also available with 32GB and HSPA+ mobile ($299), which can operate on more than 200 GSM providers worldwide, including AT&T in the US.
A $99 Nexus 7 8GB? Hell I’d grab two at that price.
I think it’s complete BS that for the same price I could have a Nexus 7 with double the amount of storage! I guess that is what happens when you commit yourself too soon. Not a happy customer right now!
Seriously? All technology gets cheaper with time. In this case, Google can afford to sell the same model with 32 gigs because the production costs are lower than when it was first released. All they are doing is passing on the savings to the consumers with the extra memory. No reason to be upset, this happens with all technology all the time.
Having recently just bought a 16gb version after waiting some time due to the initial SCREEN PROBLEMS to be Resolved! Feel Seriously Pissed off right about now! Mainly due to Google’s Lack of Communication to its Die Hard family of Droid’s Who would of bought a Nexus ‘Regardless’ Just being given the choice to wait a ‘Few’ months Out of Courtesy Would of Made ALL the difference in strengthening the Brand Within the Community! Google Take Heed! Yr Basic Droid Cash Cow$ are unlike Apple! We Won’t Constantly pay Through the nose for the Sake of The Brand! ‘LOYALTY’ Goes Both Ways!!!
I agree!!! I think us 8 GB loyal customers who bought early deserve another free Google play store $25 credit!!!
Of course the 8gb model will still be getting the same upgrades as The 16 and 32, correct?
I meant updates.
