This was quite a week with the Presidential election on Tuesday, but at least it is behind us and we can start moving forward. The country was pretty much split 50/50 with the votes. I think the biggest lesson we all need to take from the elections this year is we need to come together as unify as a country again.
Anyways, let’s get into the deals this weekend.
With Black Friday and Cyber Monday on the horizon, many of you are waiting for the perfect deals. However many retailers secretly list better deals in the weeks before the actual big sale days. The retailers take advantage of your hype for Black Friday and will offer ridiculously low prices on select items, while quietly raising the prices of others and calling them Black Friday sales.
So be a smart shopper this holiday season and remember, if retailers do drop prices further in the future, a simple email will usually result in a price adjustment post purchase.
Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the deals below.
All-New Echo Dot (2nd Generation) – Black + Philips Hue White Starter Kit – $99.99 at Amazon (save $20)
As much as I want to enjoy the all new Google Home smart speaker, I am really in love with the Amazon Echo Dot. It’s the cheapest option to connect smart devices to your home to enable voice control to play music, order pizzas, turn off or dim the lights, manage your temperature, and even close the garage door.
One of the best options for upgrading your home is the Philips Hue White Starter Kit. It comes with two bulbs and a bridge which connects the lights and any other bulbs you add in the future. The Philips Hue White Starter Kit normally costs $69.99 if purchased alone, and the Amazon Echo Dot costs $49.99 when purchased separately. When you get them together Amazon knocks $20 off the price making this a fantastic deal.
If you want to add more lights, they start at $29.99 for a two pack and can be dimmed to any levels you like, simply by using the Hue app or your voice through the Dot. You can even program the lights to come on at night which is a great feature for keeping would be thieves away. I also like my lights to come on at 4:30pm because I don’t like my dog to sit in the dark by herself.
If you truly want to connect your entire home to smart speakers, whether you choose Google or Amazon to do it, you’re going to need more than one. It’s not a whole lot of fun to walk into the room where your one smart speaker exists and give it a voice command to turn down the thermostat in a another room.
The cheapest option for upgrading multiple rooms in your home is to go with a pack of three Echo Dots where you can save $20 by using the discount code DOT3PACK at checkout. At $129.99 for three, it adds up to the same price as the Google Home smart speaker and does a whole lot more. There’s a good chance you already own a speaker or speaker system, simply connect the Dot to your speaker to play music using a 3.5mm audio cable. If you have a need for more Dots, you can still get a six pack for the price of five when you use the discount code DOT6PACK at checkout.

iHealth Ease Wireless Blood Pressure Monitor for Apple and Android – $29.99 at Amazon (save $20)
Staying on the topic of health, the iHealth Ease Blood Pressure Monitor is probably one of the smartest ways to ever spend your money. High blood pressure is often referred to as the “silent killer” because there are no easily identifiable symptoms of it until it’s too late. By connecting to an Android or iOS app, it keeps track of all of your readings which can then be passed onto your doctor when you see them once a year. It will give your doctor a better overall assessment of your health, so they can possibly treat hypertension if you have it. As someone who works in the healthcare industry, I know that hypertension is one of the easiest diseases to treat, once it is diagnosed. Consider grabbing one for a loved one this holiday season too.
iOrange-E USB C to USB 3.0 (USB 3.1 Gen 1) 6.6 Ft Braided Cable – $9.99 at Amazon with discount code QGJP7CJ8 (save $3)
The 6ft braided cable from iOrange is one of the most durable you can get with its nylon wrapping, and I use several around my house and office. This particular is my favorite because the ends are metal and the cable is wrapped in ballistic nylon which makes it incredibly tough. All of my i-Orange cables still look brand new even though they are six months old. At $9.99 these cables are an incredible value considering they will last longer than any device you currently own. Grab a couple for your home, office and car since all devices are making the switch to USB type-C, you’ll need to make the switch eventually. You might as well get one of the best while it is still on sale.
The AXGIO dual port Quick Charge 3.0 car charger makes it back onto the deals page, because it is now at $11.99 which makes it the historic lowest price. If you need to take advantage of fast charging speeds anywhere it will be in your car. You’ll also need the extra power to charge your device while using it for tasks such as GPS and wireless streaming. It’s one of the better options out there as it offers dual USB 3.0 ports where most chargers offer one. It can charge compatible devices such as the LG G5 and Samsung Galaxy S7 edge from 0-50% in less than 30 minutes.
KMASHI External 5000mAh Battery – $5.99 at Amazon with discount code AM8MQ8GY (save $5)
One of the most boring accessories to write about is battery packs. But they are almost as essential as our smartphones since many of us run out of power by the end of the day. KMASHI’s 5000mAh portable power bank is a solid choice of size versus power. It’s small enough to keep in a front pocket while having enough power to get most phones two full charges. That’s enough power to keep your phone going for three days if you start with a full battery on your smartphone. With the travel season starting in two weeks, you might want to grab this battery pack since it is just $5.99. If you need more power you can get the larger KMASHI 10000mAh sibling for $9.20 when you apply discount code 2C9Y8NG4 at checkout.
Parrot Bebop Quadcopter Drone with Sky Controller Bundle – $379.99 at Amazon (save $120)
While DJI and GoPro steal all of the attention when it comes to drones, one of the pioneers in the industry, Parrot, still offers an incredible value for its Bebop Drone with the Wi-Fi Sky controller. It costs three times less than the DJI Mavic Pro, and it won’t be recalled like the GoPro Karma. The Bebop has a full 1080p camera built right into the drone that can record in HD and has a flight time of roughly 25-30 minutes. It can also be programmed to use GPS so you can program a flight path and meets all FAA requirements. It’s so easy to fly, even I got it up in the air within seconds.
Samsung Gear IconX Cord-free Fitness Earbuds with Activity Tracker – $179.99 at Amazon (save $20)
While Apple continues to struggle with its true wireless Earpods, Samsung already has a true wireless option out now, the Gear IconX. These earbuds have been in my gym bag since they were released a couple of months ago and make for a great set of earbuds, if you don’t mind the battery life rating at about three hours. If you stream to these earbuds versus using the built-in 4GB of storage your battery life will drop to about 90 minutes which is typically good enough for one to two workout sessions for most. The Gear IconX also tracks your steps and heart rate so you can do away with your FitBit while you run.
The included case charges the earbuds three full times too.
UE MEGABOOM – $249.99 at Amazon (save $50)
There is no doubt that you will see the UE Megaboom wireless speaker in almost all audio gift guides, across tech sites, this holiday season. It frequently rates high with reviewers like us because we love the sound and versatility of the speakers that UE offers. Not only are they waterproof and shockproof, but they look cool and are designed to last. This is the only Bluetooth speaker on the planet that can connect to over 50 UE speakers at the same time with the iOS or Android apps. The Megaboom is the largest of the family, but it can also pair to the smaller UE Boom and UE Boom 2.
Have a wonderful weekend and I will see you Monday.
