David Schuster, Senior Director of SW Product Management at Motorola Mobility announced today that Android 5.1 Lollipop has begun rolling out to the 1st generation Moto X. This is, of course, fantastic news to those early adopters who purchased the phone nearly 2 years ago. The update will hit US Retail, Brazil Retail and Rogers in Canada first, with more to follow.
Motorola will be rolling out the Moto X update automatically, but you can manually apply the update by following these instructions.
- Select the Settings icon in the apps menu.
- Select “About phone”.
- Select “System updates”.
- Select “Yes, I’m in”. After the software is downloaded, select “Install now”.
- After the software is installed, your phone will re-start automatically.
- Your Moto XÂ is now updated to 222.21.15
The update contains performance improvements, bug fixes, new features, and visual enhancements. For a full list of what’s new click here.
