The competition for the thinnest smartphone on the globe gets much more fierce today as Vivo becomes the new crown-holder. Announced for release later this month, the X5 Max comes in with a chassis that’s only 4.75mm thick. Thanks to a screen that’s a mere 1.36mm thick, the handset is about 1/3 the thickness of early Androids.

Specifications aren’t all that crazy, but the hardware is not the focus here. Indeed, it’s all about that thin form factor. Nevertheless, here’s what’s in store for the Vivo X5 Max.

  • Android 4.4.4 with Custom Funtouch OS 2.0 UI
  • 5.5-inch 1920×1080 Super AMOLED display
  • 13-megapixel rear camera with Sony IMX214 sensor
  • 5-megapixel front camera
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor
  • 16GB internal storage
  • microSD card
  • 2GB RAM
  • Dual-SIM support
  • Hi-Fi 2.0 audio
  • 3.5mm headphone jack

The Vivo X5 Max will go on sale December 22 for CNY 2,998, or approximately $485 USD.
