Amazon still readying a pair of smartphones, report says

Amazon is prepping a pair of Android smartphones, one of which goes by the code name of “Smith”, says TechCrunch. The news matches up with previous reports that the online giant was working on more than one handset.

According to their source, the smartphone will reportedly employ a 3D user interface and will rely on four cameras. The cameras will sit in each corner and capture eye and head movements and deliver an image that appears to be 3D to the end user. Of course there’s a fifth camera expected on the backside.

The second device, goes by the “Project B” code name and is expected to be a value device with software not unlike the Kindle Fire OS.

It is unclear when the two smartphones will debut; time frames are rumored to be shifting around often.
