Amazon released its newest version of its smart speaker/hub today and it’s going to be a great addition to any home. Over a year ago Amazon introduced its first smart wireless speaker that not only plays music but also answers questions and takes commands like OK Google, Siri, and Microsoft’s Cortana. Instead of needing a smartphone, all of these smart features were integrated into the tube-like speaker the Echo.
I initially thought the Echo was a gimmick, but after getting my hands on one, I learned it was one of the most useful tech gadgets in my home. Google realized the power of the Echo and almost two years later will come out with its own smart speaker as well. I use my Echo to wake me up in the morning and have it play NPR news for me while I shower. And when I head out the door I ask Alexa to play classical music for my pooch.
Now Amazon has an updated version of the Dot that only costs $50 to access these smart features. Even better, Amazon is bundling the Dot with the Bose Soundlink Mini II, Phillips Hue Starter Kit, TP-Link smart plug and ecobee3 Smart Thermostat. It’s bundling the Dot with these items because it will control them with your commands. Too hot, simply call out to Alexa and have her turn on the AC. When you’re ready for bed you can simply tell Alexa to turn off the lights. It works incredibly well.
Or if already know the powers of Alexa, you can get a 6-pack of Dots for the price of five.
Check out the deals on Amazon while they last. The Dot was a limited sale the last time it was offered at a much higher price and it sold like hot cakes.
