I have all of you loyal fans and dedicated readers to thank for this incredible opportunity.  It seems hard to believe, but less than one year ago, we were averaging 15-20 visits a day.  Starting out, we were pleased as could be whenever someone would leave a comment on our site.  It amazed us that somewhere out there, a reader stumbled across our site.

I’d like to recap a few accomplishments and figures that have made us into your favorite site for Android news and opinion.

  • Over 2,400 daily subscribers via RSS (Feedburner)
  • Nearly 1,100 articles covering news, opinion, reviews and more
  • Over 3,300 comments
  • Featured in the New York Times
  • 1 week high of over 150,000 visits
  • 15 contributing writers over the year

The biggest driving factor behind AndroidGuys is that we want to help further the Android agenda.  We’re fans of the open source community and want to help it succeed.  I’ve said since day one that Android will be known for what it can do, as opposed to the iPhone, which is known for how it works.  Now, more than ever, we have a chance to help you guys see what can be done with Android.

The Android Market is but one source of getting software for your Android handset.  There are others already offering download, including AndAppStore, Handango, and OnlyAndroid.  I’m very excited to add the official AndroidGuys store in the mix!  The more options users have, the bigger the community gets.

So what are you waiting for?  Go ahead and start looking through the store!  In addition to some great Android applications, we offer accessories from vendors such as HTC, Golla, Sandisk, BlueAnt, Parrot, Plantronics, Jabra and many more!

If you are a developer looking to add your application to the store, then you’ll want to click here.

Thanks again to everyone who has helped to contribute to AndroidGuys’ success so far.  Now that Android has become a reality, we’re anxious to see what happens next!  The last year was but a prologue to AndroidGuys.  Today, we start Chapter 1!

  1. Strange — when I access the site, I got a browser message at one point that said ‘waiting for Handango’ — must be a rebranded sub-site? Those apps are pricey for what they are, I’m assuming this reflects the big chunk of the sale Handango grabs, and the developers are trying to compensate?

Handango has long been treating developers poorly, and taking one of the biggest commission chunks in the industry; I’m surprised to see AndroidGuys adopt such an anti-developer corporation as part of their storefront.

Mobihand is much better to developers.

  2. I am excited about this great information that androidguys have in store for the users. As such, It is a nice recap a few accomplishments and figures that has made this a favorite site for Android news and opinion. Thanks.

  3. need to look at the customer reviews…

for that company. this way you will get a very good idea about the reputation of that particular company as you wouldn’t want to spend hours trying to get your site back up and running due to an unreliable company.the next…

  4. can use this to test new themes,…

test new plugins, test new settings without doing anything to your original site. so, cloning makes it easy for you to make a new sandbox addition, if you are a freelancer, cloning is the best tool you ever heard of…
