Archos today announced they have deployed an Android 4.0 update for their G9 series of tablets, bringing Ice Cream Sandwich to the budget-friendly devices.  Available as over-the-air update, users will notice an “A” notification in right hand corner of their tablet.  Once clicked, the update process will initiate and install. As is the case with 4.0 for other products, the G9’s will have faster browsing, better multi-tasking, enhanced widgets, and more.  Oh, and they’ll have access to the new Chrome browser as well!


Unique ARCHOS add-ons for Ice Cream Sandwich include full 1080p support for most video codecs, movies and TV shows description and subtitles automatic download, wireless content sharing between your device and any computer or DNLA compatible TV’ and 3D video support for MKV3D files. Additional features include an optimized File Manager with full drag and drop support, Ethernet USB dongle support and the ARCHOS remote control application that allows your tablet to be controlled by any Android device.
