AT&T on Monday announced it will soon offer a more rough and tumble version of the Samsung Galaxy S7. Arriving on June 10, the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active delivers the same internal hardware but surrounds it with a semi-rugged shell designed to withstand all sorts of elements and accidents.

The Galaxy S7 Active is certified with both mil-spec 810G and IP68 ratings meaning it can handle vibration, shock, dirt, humidity, and extreme temperatures. Moreover, the phone can handle sitting in water up to three feet deep for up to 30 minutes.

S7active_Gray_frontInside, the Galaxy S7 Active houses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor with 4GB RAM and 32GB storage. The rear camera is 12-megapixels while the front offers up a 5-megapixel shooter. Screen size is 5.1-inches with quad HD resolution and is protected by a shatter-resistant glass.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 Active comes with a 4,000mAh battery, some 33% larger than the standard Galaxy S7. Indeed, it also supports adaptive fast charging as well as wireless charging, too.

Another area where this one differs from the traditional S7 is the programmable activity key. Users can set it up to launch a favorite app or open the Activity Zone outdoors-based app.

Availability

The Samsung Galaxy S7 Active launches on June 10 with a price tag that shakes out to roughly $795. Customers can purchase the phone on an AT&T Next plan for $26.50 per month over 30 months. Alternatively, the AT&T Next Every Year option for $33.13 over 24 months.
