Barnes & Noble Introduce All-New, Android-Powered NOOK

And there you have it, another NOOK from Barnes & Noble. Officially unveiled this morning at a New York press event, the Simple Touch Reader, features a 6-inch touchscreen with E Ink Pearl technology and a a “best-in-class” battery life, with 2-month stand by time. The new NOOK weighs 35% less than the First Edition and comes in 15% thinner as well. In terms of actual specs, there’s an 800MHz processor (TI OMAP3), Wi-Fi connectivity, 2GB built-in memory, and a microSDHC slot. Like its predecessors, this model has Android (2.1) running things from inside. Look for the All-New NOOK at Barnes & Noble stores for $139 once it goes on sale June 10th.

Guess that means we’ll be reporting on this getting rooted on or around the 10th.
