Details for Next Generation of Archos Devices Start Leaking

The details surrounding the next batch of Android-powered Archos devices have started arriving online.  Dubbed Generation 8 (Gen8), they will come with various screen sizes, ranging from 2.8-inches to 10-inches. Depending on the size of the device, screen density is said to be anywhere from QVGA (240 x 320) up to WSVGA (1024×600).  The first unit to break cover, the Archos 32 8GB , has been spotted on a US retailer website.

According to, this entry point unit comes with a 3.2-inch screen leading us (and others) to believe a smaller and less expensive model exists.  That’s a pretty impressive price point when you consider this version is only $149.99.  Features are said to include Android 2.1, WiFi (802.11n), Bluetooth, a camera, microphone, and 800 MHz Arm Cortex A8 processor.  Other nuts and bolt specs tell us this will be a very compact and super-light device with its 4.13 x 2.16 x 0.35 in. dimensions and 2.54 oz weight.
