Nearly all of Google’s core apps have been updated to meet the demands of Android 5.0 Lollipop and the Material Design movement. Just last week, YouTube was the last Google app to be revamped, but it seems Hangouts is up next. A new leak from Android Police shows off what we can expect in the new update.
The main changes in the update to Hangouts in include a darker green theme color, which extends to the notification bar like all 5.0 apps, new slide-out profile/navigation drawer, and a few updated icons. The entire group of screenshots can be seen below, with the older version of Hangouts on top with the new version with Material Design on the bottom.
It is unknown as to when this updated version of Hangouts goes live, but we will be sure to have you covered and link you directly to the APK file for download.

I’ve been a very loyal user to hangouts /talk since its inception. But by God, please fix the craziness of the lag. It’s happening on all my devices since the inclusion of Voice.
+Deli, agreed, it is VERY laggy.
